Biography:

I entered the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2001 and received my B.S. in polymer chemistry in 2005. I started my research at an early stage when I was a sophomore. During this period, under the supervision of Prof. Guangzhao Zhang, I earned two honors for my research and the research results were published by Macromolecules and Journal of Physical Chemistry B.. These experiences greatly stimulated my research interests and I made my career goal on research.

In the fall of 2005, I was admitted into The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), pursuing my postgraduate life under the guidance of Prof. Bo Zheng in department of chemistry. As a full time graduate student, I cherished the chance to focus directly on the research—microfluidics, an emerging and interdisciplinary field. Under the supervision of Prof. B. Zheng, I developed several microfluidic systems, including microwell-based system for high-throughput screening of protein crystallization conditions, controlled microevaporation microfluidic system for constructing the phase diagram of polymer solutions, and the degassed PDMS nanoliter liquid dispensing system. The research results were published by Analytical Chemistry, Macromolecular Rapid Communications, MicroTAS conference, and filed one US provisional patent.

My current research interest is the exploration of the miniaturization of the traditional bioanalytical method, utilizing novel microfluidic technologies to manipulating biological samples (including oligonucleotide, proteins, cells, and tissues) to perform reactions and bioassay.

Research Interests:

1.

Bioanalytical applications of microfluidics

2.

Droplet/microwell-based microfluidics

3.

Surface patterning and multiplexed bioassay
